An Overview of the ABC Mouse Online Learning Program

When the internet appeared a few years ago it opened up a world of possibilities for a large number of domains, education being one of the main ones… especially early education. In any case, there are various websites which have since dedicated themselves to providing early learning programs for parents who want their kids to get a head start on things. While there are a few websites out there, the trustworthy ones are far and few in between, with one of the most renowned names in the industry being ABC Mouse.

What is ABC Mouse?

As mentioned above, ABC Mouse is a website which is dedicated to providing in early education program. There are six different levels divided into three groups: preschool, pre-kindergarten, and kindergarten. While they do offer access to some features for free, in order to fully take advantage of their website and their program one must adhere to a subscription-based service.

A Look at the ABC Mouse Levels

Each level is very balanced, covering four main topics: reading, math, art & colors, and The World Around Us, which is basically designed to teach children practical and important things about how the world works in general. The difficulty scaling is quite smooth so as to provide a constant challenge for the child without making things frustrating or unpleasant. Here is a look at what is provided in each section of the program.

Pre-School

Made for children between 2 and 3, this section teaches through puzzles and activities the alphabet in upper case letters, numbers from one to five, as well as basic shapes such as triangles, circles, rectangles, squares, stars and diamonds. The Art & Colors section concentrates on coloring and drawing using red, yellow, blue, orange, green and purple colors. The World Around Us section simply teaches your child how to get dressed, how their body works, and how they can learn at the market.

Pre-Kindergarten

Made for children between 3 and 6, this section teaches the alphabet in lower case letters, numbers from 1 to 20, not to mention that it goes deeper into the geometric shapes explored in the previous level. In Art & Colors, drawing and colorings is done using white, black and brown mostly. The World Around Us curriculum is dedicated to plants and the weather.

Kindergarten

The final section of the ABC Mouse program is intended for those aged between 4 and 6. It focuses on combining upper and lower case letters in written text, on the numbers 1 through 20, not to mention that the same geometric shapes as previously are covered, with the addition of hearts and ovals. The Art & Color section makes use of practically every color used up until this point, in addition to which grey and pink are introduced. The Word Around Us is dedicated to the four seasons and some basic astronomy.
