Roger Dubuis Excalibur Automatic Tourbillon Watch

A few years go, Roger Dubuis watches were highly sought after, and then this brand went downhill for unknown reasons. Even though, Roger Dubuis never stops making effort to resume its resplendence. This year, it reasserts themselves by improved designs and better mechanics. I have to say, their new watches for 2010 are really eye-pleasing and have not a few new design features. Among them, the new comer to the Excalibur collection appeals to me best. Called Roger Dubuis Excalibur Automatic Tourbillon Watch, the watch features a a front mounted flying tourbillon and exposed automatic micro rotor.

The watch has a standard Excalibur style case that is sized at 45mm and crafted from 18k rose gold. The dial, sporting a decent asymmetrical look, comes with large and long Roman numerals and sharp hands in rose gold. While other Excalibur models have double tourbillons, this watch has just one. And it uses a solid gold micro rotor to create a different feel. The bast plate of the dial is made from mother-of-pearl. And that matches the technical feel of the toubillon and rotor part of the dial.

Beating inside the watch is a the RD 520, an extremely complex movement in-house made by Roger Dubuis. The watch is presented on the wrist via a brown genuine leather strap.

As an important model to the brand’s recovery plan, this stylish high-end luxury watch is just limited to 88 pieces worldwide. The brand’s watch lovers will be exciting to see this has been created. The retail price is about $158,000.
