Unloading Used Electronics for Fast Cash

We all know how quickly electronics can become old or outdated. For many of us, having the latest version of a laptop, MP3 Player or e-reader means everything.

There are many reputable companies online who are willing to buy your calculators, cell phones, digital cameras, E-readers, gaming consoles, GPS devices, laptops and other electronics. Depending on your preferred method of payment and where you purchased your device, you have many options to choose from.
Many big-box retailers offer buy-back for credit programs on most of the electronic devices they sell in stores and through their online stores. How does it work? Well, let’s say you purchase a laptop from one of these retailers and a year or so later the manufacturer comes out with another version that is faster, slimmer and for many reasons simply irresistible. You can offer to trade in your laptop for credit towards another one, or some other device.
Another more common option is to utilize one of the many independent used electronics buyers that are operating on the Web. These are not necessarily well known companies, but smaller, stand-alone businesses that offer to purchase your used electronics from you in return for a cash payment, typically to a PayPal account or some form of online payment source. Many, not all, of these sites infer that they are in business to reduce the rising tide of e-waste, or unwanted electronic devices being tossed into landfills because they are not recycled properly. They offer you a free evaluation of your product and, in return will give you cash or in some cases, a gift card.
This second option is probably a little new to many of you, but believe it or not there are a few of these companies that are well-established and even earning accolades in the press for providing a service that allows people to safely and confidently sell their unwanted electronics online.
The process generally works like this. You first need to establish an account before you can submit an electronic device for a price evaluation on the online web sites. Once you’ve done that, you are typically taken to a screen that allows you to submit the description of your device in detail, which, in order to get the best price possible, includes several “condition” categories to select from. These range from no noticeable flaws to serious wear cracks and or dents and scratches to unusable.

Once you have submitted your device description you will be given a quote for the value of your device. Typically, you’ll have an option to also include any accessories you want to include in the sale, which of course add to the value of your transaction. No one wants to buy a used lap top or tablet without the proper power cord, and most likely the cord is no longer of any use to you either once you unload the device.

So, to get top dollar for your used electronic devices, be sure to include accessories, such as power cords, cables, cases, and other items you may have purchased with the product or bought afterward.

Once you’ve submitted all of the parameters for your electronic device you will be given a value. If you agree to that sale price, you’ll be asked to carefully box and ship your device to the buyer. Most of these companies will pay for the shipping fees so you do not have to take a bite out of your sale to cover the delivery. In most cases, you’ll be given a FREE shipping label to print out to use to send the device by mail.

Once your electronic device has been received by the buyer you will be sent an e-mail letting you know your item was received and the agreed value of the item stands. You’ll be given options for how to receive payment which, again, may be in cash to a PayPal account or other source, or in gift card value.
