Pool Fences – Types, Installation And Maintenance

A Pool Fence is a type of Fence built specially for the purpose of securing a Swimming Pool and its premises. It helps prevent children or pets from straying into the Pool area, thereby minimizing the scope of accidental drowning. Besides addressing the safety concerns, Pool Fences also enhance the looks of the Swimming Pool premises.

As Pool Fences are indispensable for redressing the safety issues around a Swimming Pool, many countries have Pool Fence Laws which regulate the type and other characteristics of the Pool Fence to be installed around the Swimming Pool. As per the Pool Fence Laws of Australia, all Pool Fencing must comply with AS1926.1 1993 or 2007 standards.

Installation
All Pool Fences apart from the Removable Mesh Fence are fixed installations. However, they are not very difficult to install by oneself. However, an extra pair of hands would definitely make the installation easier.

Maintenance
Pool Fences do not require high maintenance. Cleaning them once in a while is usually enough. However Glass Pool Fences are an exception and need to be cleaned on a regular basis.

Pool Fences are not only important for the security of the Swimming Pool premises but also a legal requirement. Selection of the appropriate Pool Fence to be installed depends on budget constraints and general design of the place among other things.
