SLURRY EROSION TEST

SLURRY EROSION TEST RIG-TR 40

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 40 – Slurry Erosion Tester is designed to evaluate resistance of materials to slurry erosion.

DESCRIPTION

The Ducom Tr 40 has an arrangement to enable users to test material samples for their resistance to slurry erosion. This is done by immersing the samples in slurry of the desired composition and concentration and rotating the samples (rectangular in shape) about their axis. This leads to erosion of the samples and in turn loss of weight of samples are evaluated and resistance to slurry erosion of the samples is determined.

This tester is available in single cup and six cup configurations. While the single cup option provides a cost effective tool for slurry characterization, the six cup options provides a powerful ranking tool for evaluating up to 6 samples at a time for their slurry erosion characteristics.

APPLICATIONS

  1. Metals
  2. Minerals
  3. Polymers

SLURRY ABRASION TEST RIG – TR 44

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 44 – Slurry Abrasion Tester is designed to evaluate the resistance of materials to slurry abrasion using a wet abrasive media and a rubber wheel.

DESCRIPTION

The Ducom TR 4 test instrument is designed such that a flat test sample is pressed radially against a wheel with a known force.  The test area is submerged in wet abrasive media (slurry). The arrangement is such that the wheel carries the abrasive media between the sample and the wheel creating a scenario of three body wear using the slurry in the chamber.

The TR 44 allows users to test under a variety of loads, flow rates and types of abrasive media. Loss of weight of test samples indicates wear resistance.

APPLICATIONS

  1. Metals
  2. Minerals
  3. Polymers
  4. Composites
  5. Ceramics
  6. Abrasives
  7. Thick coatings

TWO BODY ABRASION TESTER – TR 607

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 607 – Two Body Abrasion Tester is designed to evaluate wear resistance of materials and coatings against abrasive media like abrasive cloth, paper or plastic film. The test sample in this instrument is in form of a test pin and the counter surface is a cylindrical abrasive surface.

DESCRIPTION

The material under test, in the form of a test pin is positioned perpendicular to the abrasive media on the cylindrical surface rotates around its axis. Under test, the sample pin moves across the length of the drum, parallel to the drum axis while being pressed against the abrasive surface. This exposes the test sample to a fresh abrasive surface through the entire duration of the test as it describes a helical wear track on the abrasive of the drum.

The weight loss of the pin indicates wear.
