St. Petersburg is probably Russia’s most diverse city in regards to language and culture. As such there are numerous holiday celebrations that allow tourists to see true diversity and style. It is the perfect spot to get away from all the holiday stress that is involved with the holidays – and let’s face it, who doesn’t have holiday stress during that time anyway? Eerily it goes hand in hand. It’s going to happen but being part of a different culture in a different city during the holidays will help take that stress away. Cathedrals and Churches
The sheer magnitude of the construction of these items is something in which to marvel. Inspired by European Renaissance motifs tourists can see the St. Isaac’s Cathedral, the third largest cathedral in the world. There are observation decks here to go with a tower that looks into the city square. The Chesma Church can be appreciated by everyone regardless of whether you are Catholic or Protestant. It is neo-Gothic and very stunning up close. The site towers well into the skies of St. Petersburg.
Attractions
Going to St. Petersburg tourists almost must hit up the Palace Bridge. Granted it is just a bridge, but you have to see it from a distance in order to really appreciate it. It crosses the Neva River and it creates an awesome view when elevated. The Pavlovsk Palace and Park is another fantastic place to be. It was once the hunting ground of czars. Today, this 1500-acre park contains several aviaries, bridges, trails, and gardens. Tourists will see a number of unique animals and plants here. To boot there are also architectural buildings and historical sites on ground to keep tourists busy.
Shopping and Nightlife
Both can be found throughout St. Petersburg, but the most prominent street is Nevsky Prospekt. It goes right through the center of St. Petersburg and is perfect for those looking for everything from bars and restaurants to upscale shopping venues. Anything that tourists actually need can be found here.
Of course St. Petersburg holidays can happen during any time of the year, but to truly gain an appreciation of the city, one must do proper research and preparation.
