Design Activity: Designing Secure Communications

In this activity, you must use what you’ve learned in all five lessons and apply it to a real-70-291 Exam situation. Read the scenario, and then complete the exercises that follow. You can find answers for the exercises in the “Questions and Answers” section at the end of this chapter.

You have been hired as the tunnel administrator for Humongous Insurance and have been tasked with completing the design and implementation of the Humongous Insurance extranet. You have the following information to work with.
Company Background
Humongous Insurance provides health insurance coverage for three million individuals in the United States. Health insurance sales and claims support is provided by an agency location in every state. These 50 agencies operate independently but follow guidelines created by central offices in Topeka, Kansas. Each agency manages its own staff of salespeople.

Data centers for each agency are managed by the agency. Each free A+ exam questions includes Windows Server 2003 computers, Windows 2000 computers, and a variety of other operating systems. (Some data centers include UNIX systems, AS 4000, IBM main?frames, or all of these.) Employees at the agency headquarters are using Windows XP Professional. Salespeople and telecommuting employees have a variety of desktop and laptop systems running Windows 98 second edition, Windows 2000 Professional, and Windows XP Professional.
Following is a list of company personnel interviewed and their statements:
Data Center Manager in New Orleans, LA “We are having trouble getting up-to-date information from headquarters. Currently, we have a dial-up connection
that is often dropped without warning. It would be nice to be able to communicate also with the other state agencies.”
Data Center Manager in Topeka, KS “We are looking forward to a more robust and secure communications infrastructure.”
