Hotels In Delhi Can Be a Bargain, But So Can Those in the US or Australia

My parents sent me to America to complete my post-graduate studies and I learned a lot through my exposure to American culture.  After working in a series of cheap New York hotels, I can tell you which ones are a bargain and which are a tourist trap (or worse).  Most people would have no clue about this, of course, but there are ways to figure this out for yourself.

If you are planning an overseas trip -perhaps a visit to the cafes of Paris, exploring the rain forest of Brazil or trying skiing in Canada- the first place you should start is expedia.co.in, a web site that takes the unpleasant surprises out of planning a trip.  For example, if you are considering a trip to Australia, you can browse through 228 different hotels in Melbourne alone.  They’re categorized by number of stars (I prefer 4 stars and up myself, but that could be the experience in those cheap New York hotels talking), or you can narrow down choices based on proximity to a specific attraction, a location or hotel brand.  It makes the process a pleasure.

I use this site for everything now.  When I decided to fly to Europe with my friend Kavitha, we used expedia.co.in to plan the whole thing, from flights to hotels and our car rentals.  They have packages available and even last minute deals or special travel deals that can save you a lot of Rupees.  Kavitha and I toured the Tuscany region of Italy and indulged in the best pasta, breads and olives you could imagine.  And when we decided to fly to India to surprise our families, I used expedia.co.in to check for hotels in Delhi where we could book a room in which to hold a get-together in style.

After returning home to visit my parents, I was struck by how much Delhi had changed during my absence.  Perhaps the memories of my youth are clouded by everything that I’ve seen and experienced, but my hometown seems much more bustling than when I left.  There is one thing that doesn’t change, though.  Despite dining at some of the finest restaurants in Manhattan, I’ve yet to find Biryani, Tandoori chicken or even Naan bread served overseas that is anywhere near the equal to that served by the hotels in Delhi.  They may not all be up to the standards of the Park Hyatt, but their restaurants are as authentic as it gets.

After completing her postgraduate university degree in the United States (which she paid for by working at restaurants in several different cheap New York hotels), Disha Rangan pursued a career in economics, complete with world travel.  This phase in her life exposed her to many examples of fine dining, luxurious hotels and opportunities to sample the arts and culture of many countries.  Disha’s favorite was Australia, with the hotels in Melbourne being among the best examples of luxury accommodation she’s encountered anywhere.
