Where did toning shoes come from?

Toning athletic shoes are considered the most recent trend sweeping the world, and by now one likely have found women and men sporting them around from day to day. Some basic questions may come to mind regarding toning shoes when you notice people dressed in them. Do they give good results? Who actually created the thinking behind a shoe which helps you get fit? Where did they come from?

I want to deal with this last question in this article and it actually begins with back pain treatments. A number of events led Swiss engineer Karl Muller to ponder what exactly separated folks who suffer from back pain from individuals who live happily without it. He went on vacation one year in South Korea and realized that only a few of the locals had back difficulties. What did they have in common? Well, these people were more or less all farmers in addition they spent a lot of their daily schedule out in the field – barefoot.

That provided Muller two very likely thoughts regarding causes of back pain. 1st, being out there farming in the field, these folks were not walking on as many hard environments as our own society does. From the paved avenues as well as concrete paths to the tile in our homes and office buildings, we all spend considerable time standing and walking on solid materials. Secondly, these folks were without footwear. Shoes or boots work effectively as protection from the types of surface you walk on and also help prevent the spread of a number of medical conditions, but could it be feasible that these were not really all that perfect for spinal alignment?

Muller brought this idea back with him and initiated the entire process of developing a shoe that mimicked as closely as you possibly can the sensation created by treading without shoes upon an irregular or sandy surface. This product was then rebranded with a photo of a youthful African (presumably from the Masai tribe) male and distributed as MBT (or Masai Barefoot Technology).

Since the original MBT were released, many other forms have been released by different manufacturers.
Some of the best brands oftoning shoes are Rock&Tone, TrainTone, EasyTone, Skechers Resistance Runners, and of course MBT (just to name a few…).
