Debates – The Best Way to Express and Share your Views

Debate is a very important part of a recent democratic society. The main purpose of a debate is to reflect an issue across the spectrum and reach at an appropriate decision. Social debates play a role in seeding democratic values and principles, churning out the decisions that factor in the views of the majority of people. Debates help to make conscious and informed citizens and take the dialogue and development of the status quo to progressive states.

Joining an online debating forum brings numerous advantages. You will enjoy a community membership, possibly having famed academicians and experts on board. Being a part of such a community will help you polish your intellectual insight. You will come across new ideas and get an opportunity to refine the old ones. Such debates contribute greatly to the development of socially responsible citizens. Recently, Nikhilesh, a halabol.com team member started a debate on de-regulation of petrol prices. De-regulation of petrol prices was primarily done by the Government of India to  link the price with the international crude oil price (which is the starting raw material for all petroleum products), to bring in more competition where-in it was expected that the companies would improve the efficiencies of their refineries to sell petrol to the public at competitive prices. A price war would ensure a strict competition for improving technologies & to reduce transportation losses ( may be read thefts) to reduce the COP (cost of production) of petrol and that even if inflation rises due to this it would provide a real figure.

The government was regulating the fuel prices for a long period of time; as a result it was also offering heavy subsidies on such fuels. This could not have continued for eternity. It is better the economy deals with the fuel hikes right now rather than dealing with it disruptively after a decade or so, this will help the market to get adjusted to the current market situation rather than being taken aback by a sudden fuel hike.
So deregulation of not only fuel prices but also of other commodities is necessary for growth and development of an economy in long run. But at the same time government intervention (focused and targeted) is required in case of essential commodities on which poor man thrives. Thus as we perceive it, deregulation is and will be the key for the correct, balanced and accelerated future growth of our economy.

Debates like this allow the common people to share their opinions. Many people will aware about different types of social issues and voice their opinion and this will surely help changing our society.
