Compare And Contrast On Two Poems

Anecdote of the Jar by Wallace Stevens is staged on 1919. It is poem that describes the relationship between the Human and Nature. Though the relationship of human and nature is complex one, the author has given some extraordinary efforts to describe them in more effective way. In the starting lines of the poem, the reader may feel that what the author is trying to say but after reading the whole poem we will surely feel that poem expresses the relationship between the human and nature.
The lake isle of Innisfree by William butler Yeats is staged on 1890. This poem describes the need of peace in human heart in the era of modern world. Yeats described it perfectly by going back to his childhood age. The author has been in Innisfree, an Island in Ireland. Yeats spent his youth age by having a vacation there in each summer.
Compare and Contrast two poems
First of all the poem Wallace had used complex words to explain the relationship between the human and nature. For example line 9 says “It took dominion everywhere” the “it” refers here is the power of nature and dominant than the human. On the other hand, Yeats had explained the poem in simple words like in the lines “I WILL arise and go now, and go to Innisfree” this clearly explains that what the author is going to say in the coming lines. Perhaps this may be the reason for the interest of interest in reading the poem. On the other hand Wallace increasing the interest to read the poem by using the complex words.
Basically two poems are discussing the nature beauties and opposing the modern day life. Though this poem is written in the 19th Century, the main theme of the poem is applicable even now. Wallace wants to convey that the man wants to become the dominant power over the nature. But the nature has its immense power to control the man. “I hear lake water lapping with low sounds by the shore” this line from Yeats has explained that the man needs to find his peace in loneliness and these modern day sounds in the city has made him to become like a machine. The modern day men have become addicted to the pop, rocks and blues but some of them were having the thoughts to go to a place where he/she finds peace. The above line shows that Yeats loves the nature. But in contrast Wallace expressed that he want to controls the nature in the lines “It took dominion everywhere”.
Yeats continues to praise the nature and the peace he gets in there. However Wallace has shown some confusion in describing the importance of nature. Wallace has created this confusing state by allowing the readers to get confused and finally conveys the point that the nature is far more superior to man. Even man cannot survive without the help of the Nature, the below lines explains this “And tall and of a port in air”. Those lines explained that man cannot survive the without air i.e. nature.
In the Yeats poem “The lake Isle of Innisfree”, the lines “And live alone in the bee-loud glade” explains the author’s willingness to live alone in the peaceful world. Wallace has some thoughts to live in the world with the help of the nature; he doesn’t express in his poem that he hates the modern world. However Yeats has hated the modern life and wants to spend more time in the Peaceful place.
Conclusion:
Wallace explained the importance of nature by explaining the relationship between the Man and Nature. In contrast the Yeats explains in the different way, that he wants to live peaceful place and wants to mingle with nature. Both poems explain the importance of nature in a different way.
