The Ancient Vedic Knowledge Of India

The literal translation of Vedic knowledge is to have knowledge pertaining to Veda. The Vedas consists of a large group of texts that originated in ancient India, and were written in Vedic Sanskrit, and are considered to be the oldest scriptures pertaining to Hinduism.

There are four different classes of vedic Knowledge. Three of these classifications are concerning the historical vedic Religion and sacrifice. The fourth is a complete collection of incantations, apotropaic charms spells and speculative hymns.

The four classifications are the Rigveda that contains hymns meant to be recited by the hotr, the Yajurveda that has formulas that the officiating priest or adhvaryu are meant to recite, the Samaveda that is full of formulas that are meant for the udgatr to sing, and the Atharvaveda that is a collection of various spells, and such.

The Vedas are regarded as being some of the oldest sacred texts, these texts date back to roughly 500BCE. They lasted a time spanning from 500BCE to somewhere around the Iron age. The Vedic religion was a predecessor to Hinduism.

The practices in this religion centered, around, the holy men giving or administering rites, these rites often called for sacrifices. They recited hymns that they learned from hearing the oral recitation of the hymns. According to the traditional beliefs the hymns were revealed to the rishis, who were capable of seeing or hearing these divine hymns. The Vedas were believed to be from something other than man, and only revealed to those who were hearers.

The religion centered its worship around the elements such as fire and the rivers, they also worshiped gods of whom Indra was one, they chanted the hymns they had learned, and they performed sacrifices to please the gods they worshiped. The people of this religion would pray to the gods to give them an abundance of children, for rainfall, for cattle which represented wealth among the people, to be granted a long life and awarded an afterlife in the heavenly world where their ancestors were.

The priests of the religion performed rituals just for the Nobleman and for some of the wealthy. Some forms of ritualistic worship and practices like the telling of fortunes, the reading of tarot cards, and of palms are said to be derived from the Vedic religion and their practices. A lot of the mystical believes seem to center around the beliefs that were stared from the Vedas.

Astrological signs and the worship of things connected to the moon and the earth all seem to come from the practices of that ancient Vedic Religion and their worship of the elements of fire, water, wind and things created by the earth.

These elements are the things we require to sustain all living things, so you can see some of the reasons why they believed this. However or whatever you do believe, the Vedic Knowledge does stem from some of the most ancient texts there are on earth, and there is always much we can learn from our past.
