Conference in Qatar tackles the challenges of translators

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) and Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing jointly organized a two-day conference of linguists and translators in Qatar to discuss to provide practical solutions to the difficulties faced by the translators in the ways to overcome challenges that the translators face.

It was the conference their work. Under the title “The Traveling Text”, experts shared their views on the topic.

“Following the success of last year’s conference, Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMU-Q) joined forces with Bloomsbury Qatar Foundation Publishing to bring international plenary speakers and workshop leaders to Qatar,” Amal Mohammad Al Malki, assistant professor of English at CMU-Q, said.

“Language is a powerful tool in bringing people together. This year we are exploring translation from and into more languages, giving us insights into new cultures. Our workshops deal with different topics in translation, providing in-depth knowledge and instant training in a friendly and interactive format,” she said, quoted by Qatari daily The Peninsula on Wednesday.

“We have added French, Hindi and Russian as languages of expertise provided by the plenary and workshop leaders this year,” Mohanalakshmi Rajakumar, Reading and Writing Development Director of BQFP, said.
