Learn How To Record To Success

If you have been studying self improvement for any length of time, you have most likely heard that you can journal to success. If you have sentiments that you want to remember, a record can be really helpful. Many of the most noted minds in the last few centuries kept chronicles, including Leonardo da Vinci. I have three ways I like to journal that I want to share with you.

Reflections Chronicle

The most well-known kind of a record is what some people call a diary. For this type of record, I use lined paper. In this record, I record my emotions on the day. In evaluating the day, I’ll decide what I could have done differently to make things better so that I know what to do the next time I’m in a same situation. I get a lot of insight on myself as a person in the few minutes I do this. I typically come away with some specific things I can do to improve.

Once I am finished evaluating my day, I’ll write down 5 things I am thankful for. These don’t have to be big things. It might be a simple thing that happened, a person in my life, something that I have, or it could be something that I did or completed. By writing what I am grateful for, I am able to keep my life moving in a positive direction.

Before I finish, I also like to write five goals I would like to get done the next day. It can be something small and personal like remembering to do laundry or the dishes or it could be a project or task that I need to work on for my business. Even when I don’t finish everything on the list, I get a sense of achievement and find that I really do get more done when I write this list.

Widespread Record

Another record I have is on a sketch pad or some other unlined paper. With unlined paper, you have more freedom to draw and sketch if you need to.

Keeping notes is another thing I use chronicles for. I like the uncluttered look of unlined paper when doing “Mind Maps”. Though they use a lot of room, they can be a great way to organize your sentiments.

The general record is ideal for keeping ideas on day to day projects. But it is also a terrific place to keep notes for classes, webinars, and seminars.

Pocket Record

One challenge with the two chronicles discussed so far is their size. Carrying them is easier when you have a briefcase or spacious bag. But would you take them to the store or on a date? You might not want to carry them everywhere. An simple solution is to have a pocket chronicle. Any notebook or pad that fits into your pocket or purse makes a great pocket record. Because they are so small, they are easy to carry from place to place.

A terrific reason to have a pocket chronicle is to hold lists, such as grocery lists, for things that you want or need when you might not have your larger books with you. I use them to record BIN and PLU numbers I would like to remember at checkout. Best of all, if I have an notion for a story I am working on or a flash of inspiration on a predicament I have been having, I have something at my fingertips I can write it down on so that I can remember and retrieve it when the time comes that I need it.

Pricing

Perhaps you are considering that having three could be too many. But it really is not. In fact, I find that for me, I am better able to keep track of things by having journals for specific things. While you can have too many, using the chronicles the way I do lets you keep track of the things that are pertinent to you.

You may be wondering how much it will cost you to begin to record to success. As of when this article was written, for under $10 dollars all three could be purchased. For roughly 50 cents you can get the pocket notebook. Both the sketch pad and the spiral notebook can be found in the school supplies for less than $2. If you want something more durable, you can easily find options that cost $10 to $20, or more, per record. What you use is up to you. The important thing is to get started. Good luck to you as you start your record to success.
