‘Dexter’ exec talks how long the series can last
When “Dexter” was nominated in the Oustanding Drama Series category for the 2011 Emmy Awards, there were actually some critics who strangely suggested that the show was getting “a little long in the tooth.” While the past 20 minutes of season five were questionable, the rest of the season was some of the best story-wise we have seen yet.
To answer the question, therefore, of how long this show can really last, we turn to show executive producer Sara Colleton — who had this to say about the show’s plans moving forward:
“Every year we are as excited as we were about the previous year. As long as we can move dexter into a new territory to explore, it’s exciting for viewers. And as long as there are new, profound ways of examining human nature, the show stays fresh. When we feel we have reached that end, nobody on the show wants to start treading water. When that will be, we’ll know when we get there, but I don’t see it as an imminent thing.”
Eventually, Deb is going to have to figure out about Dexter’s secret — and then, the question is going to be how exactly producers want to handle it.
With that in mind, let’s pose the following question — would you rather see the show end right after the secret comes out, or see a full season of aftermath to Dexter telling Deb?
