Royal Cup Golf Tournament welcomed its new venue

The new Eurasian Royal Cup Golf Tournament welcomed its new time and new competition venue. The sixth Royal Trophy will be held in December 14-16 2012 in Brunei Empire Hotel and Country Club first time.

Royal Cup (top professional golf match between Europe and Asia team match) was founded by the legendary golfer Seve Ballesteros who passed away this year in Spain, the first race started in January 2006. In the past five Royal Cup, the games are held in Thailand. This year, the Royal Cup moved to a new venue for the first time, Brunei, another country in Southeast Asia.

Jose Maria Olazabal who served as the captain of 2009 Royal Cup European team said, the new Royal Cup is to commemorate his compatriots and friends Ballesteros. He said when talking about next year’s Royal Cup, “For all of us who played the game with Seve, impressed by Seve’s professional and personal spirits, this will be a very special moment, it will be an opportunity to commemorate the Seve’s life and the world’s golf community.”

Different from the previous Royal cups, next year, Royal Trophy will be held at Brunei’s Empire Hotel Country Club at the end of the year on December 14-16, it can overlook the South China Sea here.

In the past five Royal Cup, the European team won four times, the Asian team had just achieved victory in 2009. Earlier this year, European team, which led by last year’s from last year’s Ryder Cup European team captain Colin Montgomerie defeated Naomichi ‘Joe’ Ozaki’s Asian team.
