Gondwana University finally gets a Vice Chancellor
After a delay of more than nine months, the Maharashtra government has finally appointed a vice-rector of the University of Gondwana (GU) to come unless Gadchiroli. The Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said the name of Vijay Aanchwar for the position of the new university in Maharashtra on Friday.
Although the official notification is scheduled for Saturday, the CM not to mention when the decision to appoint Aanchwar VC was made. GU will be dug by the fork in the 88-year-old Nagpur University, which oversees more than 800 colleges. This will be the second bifurcation of the parent university, as it has been established. Previously, Amravati University, founded in 1983.
Gondwana is the youngest university in Maharashtra, after Solapur University was founded in 2004. The GU is scheduled to inaugurate a new era in the back room and Naxal-infested Gadchiroli.
Due to the delay in the appointment of a VC for almost a year after the ordinance was enacted, GU will have to wait until June of next year to become operational. It will have 163 schools in Chandrapur and Gadchiroli under its umbrella.
Until then, NU will struggle with the load. TOI has been repeatedly emphasized that questions the delay in the appointment of UG VC.
As reported earlier by TOI, the delay in the appointment of GU VC was due to a tug of war between the two partners in power – Congress and the NCP. As interior minister, RR Patil is also the guardian minister of Gadchiroli, the bigwigs of the PNC wanted his man to the highest position.
Chavan had reportedly been given assurances delegation of tribal leaders in Mumbai, the VC newly elected tribal community.
