LiveBoot for Booting

It may have happened to the PC users that they push the power button on their PC and all they get are error messages or to do messages. Messages that say, boot fails or cannot boot or something is corrupted or missing or divide by zero error or enter boot disk etc.  Well those error messages do have valid reasons behind them. For example, the corrupted or missing file message is shown when some files in your OS (Operating System) that is related to booting are missing or somehow are corrupted and cannot be used anymore. The divide by zero error messages is shown when the computer is attempting to make a division math but the denominator is zero.  When the denominator is zero in a division, the answer is undetermined. When the computer tries to do that division while booting, it becomes confused and cannot move to the next step until it is resolved. These kinds of conflicts or missing files or changes in BIOS (Basic Input Output System) settings make booting difficult or impossible.

When boot failure occurs, it can be fixed without reinstalling the whole Operating System. Let’s see some simple procedure.

1. First you should check if your BIOS settings are set to detect your HDD (Hard Disk Drive) as your boot cd device. If your HDD is not enlisted in the boot device list then the computer won’t be able to boot. To check if that is the case, restart the computer. Then just when the first display comes, which shows the motherboard information etc. start pressing the “Delete” or “F8” button. Well the button can be anything else as well. It should be written on the screen. Usually it is “Delete” or “F8” or “F10” button. You should now be seeing your BIOS settings. If not, then restart and try again. Once you get inside the BIOS setting, seek out the option labeled “Boot options”. The title differs from BIOS to BIOS. There check if your HDD is enlisted on the boot device. If it is unavailable then select either “primary boot device” or “secondary boot device”. From a list of devices choose your HDD. Then save and restart.

If your HDD is not listed at all then shut down your computer and unplug your HDD. Then plug the power and data cable again and make sure they are properly plugged. Then start your computer again. This time there should be no problem.

2. If the computer is detecting your HDD fine and still being unable to boot then the problem is elsewhere. If the message says that inset boot disk or boot failed it probably means some important files of your OS is missing or corrupted or simply not functional anymore. If that is the case then you need a Bootable CD (or bootable disk). Bootable CD or DVDs are disks that can boot your computer from Disk Drive or can install the OS or repair it etc.

First go to BIOS settings and chose your CD/DVD ROM as the primary boot device. Insert the disk. Then save the BIOS settings and restart. After restart the computer will show an option like “Press any key to boot from CD”. Press any key. Wait for the instructions to come. There might be options like repair or fresh installation. You can choose any of them. Repairing will keep all your settings as it was but it will rebuild the corrupt or missing files. Fresh installation will remove the current OS and install a fresh copy.

If all these seem too much for you then easy solution is there.
