Daniel Defense Weapon

A few weeks ago, I ordered a Daniel Defense Omega free float rail for my mid length 14.5″ AR-15. I didn’t like the stock hand guards simply because they heat up too soon, and because I want to to mount accessories towards the rails (vertical foregrip, flashlight, etc).

After doing my research and searching at free float rails from Troy, YHM, LaRue, and Knights Armament, and Daniel Defense, I determined that Daniel Defense had the rail in my situation. This was because the price, ease of installation, and good reviews i had read. Most free float rails in the other manufacturers needed that the delta nut assembly be removed. To eliminate the assembly, you will most probably have to use a dremel and make the grade off, which can be something that I didnrrrt want to do. Also, although other manufacturers come close in price, they could be recycled as easy to put in nor will they be proven to perform as well as the Daniel Defense Omega.

Installation of the Omega rails was a breeze which required all of 5 minutes, literally. Lessons to do is take off your stock handguards, attach the Omega rails within the handguard’s place, and tighten several screws and allen set screws. The flat head set screws attach both parts of the rail to one another and the allen head set screws attaches the rail into the delta ring (far left inside the picture).

The way the Omega rail attaches into the rifle had me worried until I took it for the range. The reason is , the only thing attaching the rail towards rifle are 4 allen head set screws in the base of the delta ring (far left in the picture above). Thus giving support on the lower component of the rail, however , there is nothing holding the rail towards upper perhaps the delta ring (far right in the picture above). You’ll think that you may shove the rail around with the upper base, nevertheless the rail stays installed firmly. It does not move if you do not give it some strong force.

After coming to the range and firing a couple of hundred rounds, I am able to finally say i strongly approve from the Daniel Defense Omega rail. It held up great and didn’t rotate or come loose. The rail also dissipated heat way quicker and much quite as good as the stock hand guards. I ought to also point out that the finish around the rail is high quality and did not scratch or mar after mounting and unmounting various accessories.
