Revolution 2020 by Chetan Bhagat narrates the story of three childhood friends Gopal, Aarti and Raghav who battle to find success and love on the holy ghats of Varanasi. He has set the story in the time of engineering exams in order to unravel the current state of affairs in India’ private education sector. When asked about how he came up with the story line, Chetan Bhagat said, “I am a motivation speaker now and travel around the country. As part of that, I visited several small colleges and noticed the rampant corruption in the education sector. I thought this affects millions of youth so I should do something about it. Hence, ‘Revolution 2020′ was born.”
Like his earlier works, Revolution 2020 has also created a flutter in the Bollywood with UTV bagging its film rights. The big screen versions of Five Point Someone and ON@CC were 3 Idiots and Hello. The film adaptations of the other two works would be out soon. According to UTV Motion Pictures, CEO Siddharth Roy Kapur, “When he shared his latest book with us even before it was published, we read it cover to cover in a single sitting. It is simply unputdownable. He has crafted such a dramatic plot with such sharply defined characters, that you’re constantly wondering how things will play out. The issues he deals with in the book are those today’s youth will instantly relate to and identify with. We’re very excited to work with him on making a great film from what we all believe is a great book”.
