David diplomatically declined the offer of producing exactly the same buckle in great quantities for the owner but he did begin to think of the commercial appeal of his art which ultimately directed the couple to form their own company.
Their company did quite well but only really had the first taste of success when David Yurman designed a silver bracelet that was, and still is, known as the “cable bracelet”. This design and style continues to be an influence on many of today’s jewelry pieces.
Inspired by an early design he saw David was successful in making a sterling silver braided effect of metal turned into a bracelet.
