How to Choose MBA College For Your Self

It is quite a difficult job to find out a college that can be exact match to each and every MBA aspiring candidate. Most of the candidates look at glossy brochures, fantastically designed websites, inflated placement packages shown in the websites, high facility campuses, etc. and fall prey to such colleges which has huge difference in the presentation they make through their websites, brochures and in the ground reality. Rarely, they follow proper criteria to find out a most suitable college and environment for one self. It is very essential not to fall prey to marketing gimmicks of business schools and take a very well thought and informed decision in the long term interest of the one, not for the particular duration of the study.
Reputation of College – Studying the college reputation as an institute is very important to get a clear idea of what kind of environment is going to be there. There are many colleges in the world which are reputed and just based on reputation they keep on getting good students. In turn these good students and their hard work again add success stories to the college name.
Location – Location of a business school is of prime importance if you are considering specific career options after MBA. For example Noida or Mumbai or Bangalore are the cities where many companies are having their head offices or regional offices where they are in constant need of managers. Such companies, in most of the cases, hire employees from local colleges and this kind of company’s policies help colleges to get good placements.
Corporate Relations – Corporate relations of any college helps them to get their students placed. Their relations with the companies become even stronger if they provide the talent for which satisfies company’s requirement not in just short term but in long term performances of the companies. Better statistics of the placement figures of the college in previous years also helps colleges to get more placements in present and future. My advice to students is to verify the claim of college regarding their placement figures and corporate relations trough their present students and alumni.
Cost of education – Many people feel that heavier fees mean better education and placements. This is not true in many cases. For example if any company recruits candidates with a package of Rs 300,000 per annum from two colleges which charge Rs. 50,000 as a fees per annum and Rs 500,000 as a fees per annum respectively. So, students studied from college which charged them Rs. 500,000 per annum will require at least 3 years and 4 months of job time to recover their college fees where as students from first college will require only 8 months of job time to recover their college fees.
Faculties – Colleges’ actual strength lies in their faculties. Better faculties not just in terms of their bio but their teaching skills and ability to take students to deeper sections of the subject will always be helpful to the students. To get a proper idea of Quality of the faculty, one can take reviews from present students.
After all finally most important factor you which has the highest impact on one’s career is one’s skill, moral standards and individual and group work capacities.
