That cheap kobe 6 shoes puts pressure on Plumlee
Because the Rebels only had one available adidas top ten 2000 retro scholarship up until this week and they’re clearly in for the long haul with Bennett, there aren’t really many other high school targets for this year’s class. Findlay Prep 7-footer Matt Willms is a possibility, but most of the premier uncommitted guys have their lists cut to a few choices, and it would be nearly impossible for UNLV to swoop in and sway them.
They’ve received feedback on where they might be drafted without even having a chance to work out for NBA teams. Last year, with a May 8 deadline, players had a window of about a week to work out for teams and make a stay-or-go decision based on in-person evaluations. Those will now be available only if a player has forfeited his college eligibility.
The abundance of talent available during the late signing period makes things tricky. According to ESPN.com’s recruiting rankings, six of the top 30 players in the Class of 2012 are unsigned. The top two, 6-foot-10 center Nerlens Noel and 6-6 forward Shabazz Muhammad, plan to announce their college decisions Wednesday.
Noel’s finalists are Kentucky, Georgetown and Syracuse. Muhammad is down to UCLA, Kentucky and Duke, although most experts believe the Blue Devils are a long shot.
The conflicting draft deadlines won’t have much of an effect at Kentucky, which is going to lose a large number of players from its national title team, even if the announcements aren’t made until later this month. But there is a domino effect for programs such as Duke and N.C. State.
Take the case of 6-9, 275-pound Tony Parker, who is ranked the No. 26 prospect in the Class of 2012 by ESPN.com. He lists Duke and Kentucky among his finalists, and his decision could be affected by where Noel and/or Muhammad go. Whatever Plumlee chooses to do will also have an effect because Parker likely would prefer to start immediately in college. That cheap kobe 6 shoes puts pressure on Plumlee to give Duke’s coaches an idea of his plan so they can recruit accordingly.
