Don’t lose hope if your child prefers working out in gymnasiums to studying for his trigonometry exams, because the CBSE has come up with just the course for him.

From the next academic session, the board is coming up with a new elective, titled Fitness and Gym Operations, which will get ready children to open gymnasiums after completing their education.  “This is being commenced mostly to offer children more opportunities for follow various kinds of careers,” CBSE chairperson Vineet Joshi said. Besides inculcating a sense of fitness among children, the course will also inform them about the ‘pitfalls’ of exercising, he added.

While physical education, which is already a course in CBSE schools, explains the significance of general fitness, the new course will have a more specific purpose of helping a child establish a gymnasium of his own. In a nutshell, it will prepare the child for a vocation in the area of physical education.

Stating that the course contents are being prepared, Joshi said, “Teachers are also being trained for the new course.”
