Knowing Truth of Scripture Helps In Everyday Life

In the 20th and the 21st century mankind has witnessed more bloodshed, pain and suffering than ever before. We had the World Wars, nuclear bombs, broken families despite having talks of democracy, modernism and freedom. Have you wondered why has it been so? The fact that we have moved from the truth of scriptures has led to more suffering in our daily lives. We have forgotten the scriptural truths which teach out the little joys of life. Instead we focused too much on materialism and greed which is slowly leading to degradation of our society and ultimately to our downfall. Can we still say that human race has advanced as is being often told to us by the great thinkers of our society?

Christian truth acts as a guiding star in our lives and teaches us the virtues of love, peace, forgiveness and brotherhood. As Peter 2:17 rightly puts it “Honor everyone. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the emperor”. Now you can easily make out our Holy Book stresses on unity and peace among mankind. There are some people who see the Holy Bible as a religious text. It definitely is but it doesn’t merely talk about religion but helps us take decisions in our daily lives whenever we are on the cross roads. It helps us choose between the right and the wrong, the truth and untruth and gives us pointers towards a healthy and peaceful life which is devoid of stress and suffering.

Our youth no longer follow the path their ancestors walked for centuries leading to the evolution of societies and culture. No wonder we see rebellion amidst prosperity, health and wellbeing. The ironies of life couldn’t have been starker and shows us the sorry picture of moving away from the basic principles of life. A young mind is agile, ambitious and aggressive and it needs to be guided in the right path. Timothy 4:12 says “Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity”. Youths are the decision makers of tomorrow’s society and it is very important that they possess the equitable judgemental power and these can easily be derived from the scriptural truths.

Similarly when it comes to marriage and togetherness we are witnessing broken families, adultery and violence. Why does this happen? We are becoming individualist and put our ego ahead of the collectiveness of the family unlike our ancestors. We don’t act as ‘social animals’ anymore which distinguished human beings from others in the animal kingdom. According to Ecclesiastes 9:9 “Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun—all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun.” Respecting this Christian truth helps individual bond together and care for each other.
