Fresh or Artificial Christmas Wreaths?

Those of us that are concerned about the environment want to make sure that we are buying and producing green products. Consumers are conscientiously doing their best to purchase products that use renewable resources. When it comes to deciding between a fresh Christmas wreath or on an artificial wreath, most people are choosing real evergreen wreaths. You probably know that artificial wreaths are made from plastics and other petroleum based products, and you also know that petroleum is not a renewable resource.

The artificial wreaths most likely will end up in a landfill and they are not biodegradable. In addition, most artificial wreaths are made overseas and so even more petroleum is used to ship the artificial wreaths. There are many more green reasons to buy a fresh evergreen wreath. They can be recycled by removing the fir from the wreath rings for a potpourri.

There are also many free recycling programs where the greens will be chipped and used for mulch, another plus for the environment. Our boxes and bags are made from recycled materials as well. Since 1976, we have shipped noble fir wreaths worldwide and we have studied environmental issues. We are constantly learning better ways to protect Mother Earth and thus updating our methods of production.

Fresh evergreen wreathes are a renewable resource. We do not cut down any trees to make our Christmas wreaths. In the foothills of the Cascade Mountains, we harvest the tips of the branches, and this actually promotes the growth of the trees. Trimming the branches of the noble fir trees is actually beneficial to the trees and thus great for the environment. The aromatic noble fir trees from Washington state are the longest lasting evergreens. These majestic trees are natures way of fighting against global warming.

Trees take carbon dioxide out of the atmosphere and release oxygen. The process of producing plastic, artificial wreaths burns fossil fuels while adding carbon dioxide to the atmosphere. Its a great system.

Knowing that fresh Christmas wreaths are recyclable, renewable and less of a contributor to global warming, those who are concerned about Mother Earth are choosing a fresh Christmas wreath.
