Why the Deemphasis on Exercise in Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover Might Have Downsides

Exercise and Diet. Diet and Exercise. We are highly conditioned to think that you must have both to be as fit as you want to be for as long as you want to be.

I do believe there are sound reasons for this line of thinking. The best reason is that it has been proven to work. In light of this, my appreciation for the ideas behind the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Makeover seems contradictory.   I mean after all isn’t the program set up for people who hate to exercise?  The answer is that it sort of is.

Don’t be confused though. The program does include tailored specific exercises to go after your problem areas and attempt to make change as quickly as possible in conjunction with the diet portion of the program. What it also does is make exercise a distant, distant second to eating the correct things at the correct times of day in the correct amounts.  Reviews which are out there have made it clear that this does work if you stay on task.  For the many of us out there who aren’t going to be running a marathon or blowing through “Cross Fit” any time soon, Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover Holds Great promise.

What we must do is eat well and get regular movement in our lives. More walking, biking, playing with our children or pets are all suitable forms of keeping the body moving and for those of us who only want to stay slender, this is likely all we need. However, I don’t believe that it is a perfect plan to simply disregard exercise and the supplementation of more rigorous exercise into our lives for a variety of reasons.

First, being fit and having a plan for being fit which we execute is very empowering mentally. Good rigorous exercise speeds up the mind and helps relieve stress. We also benefit from having body objectives which we map out and exert influence in achieving. This is known commonly as the power of self-actualization. It’s a basic need in our hierarchy of life no less important than proper shelter.

Second, having a high intensity exercise plan with goals for performance and appearance offsets the inevitability of slipping from the structure of the Michael Thurmond 6 Week Body Makeover plan. We won’t always be as hard on ourselves as we are when doing this plan and in a lot of ways that’s a good thing. What more and challenging exercise gives us is the ability not get worried when we have times where we may not eat what we’re supposed to.
