In Mexico, Moran is known as the head of Grupo Vidanta which is a prime real estate developer. This group owns top of the line hotels and resorts located in pristine areas of the country. These posh establishments include the Grand Mayan Hotel, Grand Bliss, Mayan Palace Hotel, Sea Garden and Ocean Breeze Hotels, among others.

Fresh out of college, Daniel Chavez Moran established Grupo Vidanta in 1974. After grueling work days that lasted for thirty years, Moran decided to give all of his time and effort to philanthropy. With the primary goal of fighting poverty not just in Mexico but also in Latin America, Mr. Moran established the Grupo Mayan Foundation in 2005, which was later renamed as the Grupo Vidanta Foundation in 2008.

This is a group that does not have complex aspirations. They are mainly concerned with national policies as improving these can lead to positive changes in the way of life in Latin America. The resorts of Grupo Vidanta runs the foundation as this is a non-profit organization.

His foundation may not reach the millions of poor Latin Americans, but Mr. Moran is doing a tremendous job of influencing other Mexicans to help those who are in need of help.
