Wellness Resolutions for the New Year

Each year men and women resolve to get more healthy. These normally include things like “I want to lose a lot of weight” or “I want to eat really healthy from now on.” It is good to desire to be as healthful as you can be. All the same, it is really simple to go overboard when it comes to New Year’s resolutions. If you’d like to lose 50lbs by 2012 that could be broken down into a somewhat more than four pounds per month or one pound per week. One pound per week is all it requires. You can do that! Simply cutting the soda out of your diet is enough to help you get there. Obviously avoiding soda alone isn’t enough to get the job done but it will help you gather steam when you are first starting and while you learn how to keep off the pounds that you drop every week.

If you are excited about animal rights and would like to turn into a vegan, don’t go vegan right away. Your health will suffer, you’ll experience withdrawals and you’ll feel so awful that it will be astonishingly difficult for you to stick to your new food commitment. Start out by quitting a single type of meat. Then, after a week or two, eliminate yet another type of meat. Once you’ve eliminated all the major meat groups from the diet, you can work on cutting out dairy. After you’ve worked through a dairy dependence, you’ll be able to start working on reducing all of the smaller things that have animal based ingredients (jello, for example, contains animal byproducts). Doing this will also help you learn just what to look for on ingredients labels over time (which helps you remember things) and find brand-new foods to make up for the old cravings that you are fighting against.

There are many ways that you can get healthier over the course of the year. New Year’s resolutions really are a great way to find determination to get started on the work you need to do. Use small goals to help you keep working long past the time when you would normally give up on your resolutions and health goals.
