What are the disadvantages of plastic? How does it affect the environment?

Plastics are made from petroleum. This brings a host of issues (habitat destruction, extraction of crude oil, the country’s unstable security where oil is produced, processed oil, chemical manipulation of different types of plastic). Involves the production of many chemicals, many of which have not been adequately tested for their toxicological effects on humans or animals.
The final product is often a plastic chemical entity in and of itself was not sufficient toxicological and ecotoxicological tests. For example, PVC, forms of which have been banned in Europe, but there are lots of toys for children in America. Recent conflicts in plastic bottles (many toxicologists do not recommend re-use plastic bottles for water and food store in Tupperware) have highlighted the potential risks. Compounding the problem is that science is only now making, if it is able to detect plastic components in human blood and then to trace levels and their links to human disorders and diseases.
Plastics industry often turns plastic and chemicals in a variety of products, some are dangerous and controversial (Teflon, PVC, polyethylene, polystyrene, silicone, various body treatments and hair). companies producing plastic are often chemical companies or subsidiaries of chemical companies, both with bad track record of commitment to regulatory compliance and willingness to perform toxicology tests of the products they manufacture .
Often plastics leech chemicals, including hazardous chemicals through the common temperature changes. It is for this reason that toxicologists do not recommend storage of very cold foods in plastic food or heating (microwave especially) in plastics.
