1. Saunas
Myth
Just soaking myself in a sauna I can lose weight. Calories lost is equal to the perspiration rate in the sauna.
Fact
The time spent in a sauna will in no way similar the time spent doing a cardio workout. You burn calories by doing something. All you need to do in a sauna is sit still or lie down unless you enjoy doing jumping jacks while you’re in there. The reason why people assume that being in a sauna assists with weight loss is the sweating effect which causes water weight loss. If you were to take note of your weight after being in a sauna for awhile, there should be a minor decrease. Do not go thinking that you have actually lost weight from this water loss. You will gain back the loss water weight once your body is hydrated. Be warned that being in a sauna for too long can lead to dehydration and muscle cramps.

2. Wearing A Corset
Myth
A corset is good with helping me lose weight because it squeezes all my fats away.
Fact
The women of the Victorian era were big on corsets. It was because during that era women are deemed to be the fairer and weaker sex. By tying the corset really tight around the womens’ midsection, it helped to keep their posture upright. Someone came to the conclusion that if you can squeeze your mid section that tightly it will somehow dissolve the fat away. There are reports stating damage to the internal organs due to the tightness of the corset. You might end up doing more harm to yourself.

3. Avoid Fats At All Cost
Myth
I should banish fats from my diet since it’s bad for me .
Fact

Just like carbs, not all fats are created equal. You have your good fats and bad fats. Good fats are called unsaturated fats. by eating more fish, nuts and olive oil, you will be eating a good amount of good fats. Bad fats are termed Saturated and Trans fats. Such fats are usually found in deep fried food, meat from animals, full cream dairy products, etc. Too much can lead to high cholesterol levels and heart diseases.

4. Eating At Night Is Prohibited
Myth
Eating at night is undesirable for me as all the calories get stored as fat.
Fact
Your body does not time your meals with a clock with the agenda of making you fat. Weight loss is very simple. Your body weight will drop as long as you create a calorie deficit. By calculating how many calories you need day-to-day, it will be easier for you to know how much of a deficit to create. If you are still within your recommended calorie intake, eating at night will not lead to weight gain. Try not to wait till night to have one large meal though. Your body operates better with smaller portions.

Myth
I don’t need to do any cardio while on a diet.
Fact
I have to admit that there is some truth in the above statement. All you have to do is to eat healthy and you can lose weight. The thing is if you do wish to not do any cardio at all, be willing to be dieting for a long time to come. Any good diet routine should at least consists of a couple of cardio sessions weekly. The kind of health benefits that you get from exercising is good enough reason for you to start getting your sluggish butt in gear. By exercising you are raising your metabolic rate during and even after you are done. This helps to improve your fat burning rate.
It’s easy for someone brand new to dieting to take such diet myths as the reality. The above common myths don’t sound very far fetched hence it’s easy to take it as the truth. We are almost certainly guilty of one or some of them at one point of our diets. You should make it a point to take a good look at your diet if you are not making any success. You might still be unconsciously including one of these diet myths. Sometimes all you need is a little tweak to get those fats burning again.
