JOURNAL BEARING DEMONSTRATION APPARATUS (JBDA)

JOURNAL BEARING DEMONSTRATION APPARATUS (JBDA) – TR 60

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 60 – journal bearing demonstration apparatus (JBDA) is used to demonstrate the pressure distribution and friction factor of journal bearing as a function of radial load, speed and lubricant.

DESCRIPTION

The TR 60 consists of a variable speed motor that rotates a shaft on which a journal bearing is mounted. The instrument has a facility to apply the required test load on the journal bearing and provide the needed lubrication. The TR 60 comes with the WinDucom software for data acquisition and display of test results.

Speed of the journal bearing can be set and the load and lubricant varied, to create a wide variety of test scenarios with the chosen bearing. Pressure is measured using electronic pressure sensors.

The Ducom design provides for positioning of the sensor at any angle in the range of +_180 degrees with respect to the load line to record pressure distribution while the machine is in operation.

JOURNAL BEARING TESTER (OSCILLATORY MOTION) TR 602

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 602 – Journal bearing tester (oscillatory motion)is used to test journal bearings for their life and performance using high radial loads under an oscillatory motion.

DESCRIPTION

The TR 602 consists of a mechanical system that permits testings of journal bearings at a variety of loads and speeds. This instrument uses a pneumatic loading system to apply a radial load on the test bearings. Users may choose from a variety of loading options like constant load mode, ramped load mode, stepped load mode and a sinusoidal load mode.

In addition to unidirectional rotations, the Ducom TR 602 also has the capability to run the journal bearing in an oscillatory mode. A safety system in this instrument provides for both user and machine safety.

User may control the load, speed and duration of the test. The TR 602 comes with the WinDucom software for data acquisition and display of results. The system has facilities to measure and record test load, frictional torque and RPM. WinDucom software is used to preset data in a variety of ways and compariview provides a powerful tool to view and compare test results for evalution.

FEATURES

  • Variety of loading options
  • Unidirectional rotation and oscillatory movement capability
  • Measurement of test load and frictional torque

TWO BODY ABRASION TESTER – TR 600

PURPOSE

The Ducom TR 607 – Two Body Abrasion Tester (Abraser) is designed for accelerated testing of materials  for their wear resistanc.

DESCRIPTION

The Tr 600 test instrument consists of a rotating disc upon which the sample under test is mounted. Two abrasive wheels are pressed against the rotating sample under test with a known force. The rotation of the sample disc makes the abrasive wheels rotate in opposite directions and generates a wear track using which materials can be evaluated for their wear resistance.

APPLICATIONS

Evaluation of abrasion resistance of:

  1. Metals
  2. Plastics
  3. Ceramics
  4. Surface coatings
  5. Leather
  6. Rubber
  7. Floor covering
  8. Composites
  9. Wood
