Dr. Chris Tomshack: From SmallTown Chiropractor To Franchise CEO
You may not guess that the confident and successful chiropractic powerhouse, Dr. Chris Tomshack, started small, but that’s exactly where he started his chiropractic practice.
Dr. Tomshack began his practice living in the upstairs of his chiropractic office. With his wife, Lisa, working the front desk and greeting patients, Dr. Tomshack knew he was onto something big right away.
Chris Tomshack is the founder and CEO of HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab. After graduating from Palmer College of Chiropractic he opened his own small practice in Vermilion, Ohio. He wasn’t so successful right away; it took time and hard work to make HealthSource what it is today.
Coupling business basics with radical chiropractic care took Dr. Tomshack beyond running his own practice; it led him to realize the dream of the franchise opportunity for other hard working chiropractors as well. He says that with major changes in health care taking place every year, “the average DC has no idea that they’re going to be audited in the next 12 months.”
It’s his dream to see chiropractors finally take their well-deserved spot in the changing healthcare system. He wants to equip and encourage chiropractors with the HealthSource system, presently operating in 43 different states, to successfully protect themselves while providing excellent life changing care to millions of people across the United States.
Dr. Tomshack credits his father, the late Michael Tomshack, who was also his business mentor, with pushing him to pursue business during his college career at Ohio University. Along with his other required courses, Dr. Tomshack also made sure he was growing his business know how by taking business courses to address what he would later see was an absolute necessity, learning and applying the fundamentals of owning and running a business.
Soon after Dr. Tomshack’s first practice took flight, he launched three additional successful chiropractic offices in the Cleveland area. He would soon see that what he was doing that was working so well, his own fine-tuned HealthSource system, could be reproduced to help other struggling chiropractors.
The first HealthSource franchise office was sold in April of 2006. Since then, HealthSource has been named Entrepreneur magazine’s “Franchise 500” number one franchise three years in a row now. In January HealthSource Chiropractic and Progressive Rehab was named their “Top New Franchise.”
Dr. Tomshack is eager to watch HealthSource grow and make quality chiropractic care available in even more locations.
