Comparing the Samsung Transform to the Galaxy S Phones

There is much speculation in regards to Samsung’s Transform phone. The smart phone rumor mills were humming with all sorts of notions and ideas of what it would have to offer. Well, the Transform was released to the public and took a lot of people by surprise.

The Samsung Transform comes as a purely CDMA phone, while the other Samsung Galaxy S devices are GSM phones. In terms of dimensions and weight, the Transform is a tab bit heavier and bulkier than the other Galaxy S phones. Both have Super AMOLED 4.0 inch screens with 16 million color definition. The Transform has a slide QWERTY key board plus touchscreen capabilities while the Galaxy S is fully touchscreen. The Transform lags in terms of data capabilities as it has no GPRS or EDGE which the Galaxy S phone offers. In terms of camera, OS, price and other features, both phones share multiple similarities.

The Transform weighs 50 grams more than the Galaxy S. The Galaxy S has a TFT capacitive touchscreen with 256K colors with a paltry 2.8 inch screen compared to the far superior 4.0 Super AMOLED screen of the Transform. Touchscreen capabilities of the Galaxy S are also limited and lack the Swype text input and multi-touch input of the Transform. The internal memory of the Galaxy S is 170MB and has no RAM/ROM differentiation. A 2MP camera adorns the Galaxy S compared to the 5MP LED flash camera of the Transform. They both run Android OS, V2.1 clair with the Transform having a 1GHz clock speed to the 600MHz of the Galaxy S.

Worth noting as well is Sprint ID, which is an application only available for the Transform. Sprint ID allows the user to have the ability to personalize and customize their phone and user interface.

There are a number of features and enhancements that the Samsung Transform lacks, such as battery life and connectivity. These can be solved by using one of the many accessories available online. If you are constantly on the phone, the battery will drain rather quickly. To rectify the problem you can purchase an extended battery.
