Office Desks for Dummies!
Let me clarify – Our customers are not dummies. I just decided to borrow the well known book title and write a blog on some of the most often asked questions relating to office desks.
What colours do you have in stock? This is easy. 99.9% of office furniture dealers in Ireland only stock beech office desks. Others, like us, will stock a range of cherry executive office furniture. Outside of these two colours, you are generally looking at a lead time of 3 to 4 weeks for your office furniture. Other colours available on a lead time include white, grey, oak, light oak, wenge and mahogany.
So what is a radial or corner desk? Corner desks in Ireland generally have a larger footprint. It will either come in a left or right hand version. So if you image yourself sitting at your office desks in Dublin; a left hand desk will have the return coming around on your left hand side, a right hand corner desk will flow the opposite direction with the return sweeping around to the right.
So then we have a wave desk! A wave office desk is what we refer to as a hybrid. It is a cross between a corner desk and a rectangular office desk. Again they come in left or right hand versions but only sweep around slightly to the left or right.
The most popular is the rectangular desk! A rectangular desk or straight office desk is by far the most popular shape of desk. It is a rectangular block of wood plonked on top of a pair of legs. They can come in any width from 800mm wide right up to 2 Metres wide. The depth of a rectangular desk generally remains constant at 800mm deep regardless of the width of the desk.
Legs 11! Office desks have several different types of legs. You can choose panel legs – these are wooden legs that match the desk top. Or you can have cantilever legs – you have all seen these legs. They are made from metal, are generally silver in colour and give great support. Then there are all sorts of other leg types, cable managed desks, K Legs, Pole Legs, System Legs and shared legs. I wont bore you anymore.
