Another very important rock climbing technique that you should learn as a beginner is the toe hook. This climbing technique allows you to hook the upper side of your toes to a hold and then hoist yourself up. The toe hook technique is very useful if you want to pull your body closer to the wall.

This rock climbing technique can be broken down into two basic components namely the hands jam and the foot jam. The hands jam can be performed with the use of the whole hand or through finger locks.
